Punjab Cabinet to Review Emergency Services Amid Border Tensions

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, May 9 — Amid escalating tensions with Pakistan, the Punjab Cabinet will convene at 11 a.m. today to assess the state’s emergency preparedness, including health infrastructure, fire services, and essential supply reserves, officials confirmed.

“The Cabinet will conduct a detailed review of hospitals, fire stations, and the availability of ration across the state,” said an official from the Chief Minister’s Office.

“Immediately after the meeting, ministers will be dispatched to the border districts to oversee ground-level readiness.”

As many as 10 ministers are scheduled to move out to six key border districts following the cabinet session. The deployment plan includes Minister Lalchand Kataruchak and Dr. Ravjot Singh in Gurdaspur, Kuldeep Dhaliwal and Mohinder Bhagat in Amritsar, and Laljit Bhullar along with Harbhajan Singh ETO in Tarn Taran.

In Ferozepur, Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian will be joined by Hardeep Mundian. Meanwhile, Dr. Baljit Kaur and Tarunpreet Sondh will supervise arrangements in Fazilka.

The coordinated outreach aims to ensure that emergency services are fully mobilized and that district-level teams are equipped to respond to any potential crisis near the sensitive India-Pakistan border.
