Punjab Police reported major operational milestones as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ enforcement drive completed 200 days of implementation. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav affirmed that the multi-dimensional campaign targets both active gang members and the underlying structures supporting organized crime across Punjab.
During the drive, police personnel conducted over 1.09 lakh raids, apprehending 1,532 proclaimed offenders and taking action against 853 gangsters and their associates. Security forces recovered substantial arms and narcotics, including 990 illegal firearms, 2,739 rounds of ammunition, 774 kg of heroin, and over 7,200 kg of poppy husk, alongside seizing 61 drones and nearly 5,000 mobile phones used in criminal activities.
Anti-Gangster Task Force ADGP Pramod Ban stated that law enforcement strategies have adapted to address international coordination and financial channels. He declared that close collaboration with Central investigation agencies has enabled the state police to dismantle extortion rackets, track overseas linkages, and pursue extradition proceedings against fugitive operatives.
The department has established a dedicated anonymous helpline and introduced financial incentives for verifiable information regarding wanted criminals. Authorities asserted that these measures aim to encourage public cooperation while disrupting criminal operations throughout the state.
