NEW DELHI, SEPT 29: A public interest litigation challenging the execution of powers by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will be heard by the Supreme Court next week.
The legal filing refers to media reports indicating that 14 key decisions were enacted under the banner of the Election Commission spanning late 2025 to mid-2026. The petitioner affirmed that these measures proceeded regardless of dissenting notes submitted by Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu.
According to the plea, decisions governing poll processes must reflect multi-member consultation rather than unilateral execution. Counsel appearing for the petitioner maintained that judicial intervention is required to review the validity of orders issued amidst internal structural objections.
Accepting the urgent listing request, the bench stated that the challenge will be taken up for initial proceedings in the coming week.
