Chandigarh, March 4: Vibrant celebrations took over the streets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on Wednesday as citizens gathered to observe Holi with communal harmony. The scent of “gulal” and the sight of multicolored festivities defined the day, with children and adults alike participating in the seasonal traditions.

A significant highlight of the day was the “Holla Mohalla” at Anandpur Sahib, where thousands of devotees paid their respects at the Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib. Across other parts of the region, the atmosphere remained festive as groups of people danced to popular songs and visited relatives to exchange greetings.

Law enforcement agencies remained on high alert throughout the day to prevent any untoward incidents. Official sources affirmed that PCR vans and special traffic teams were deployed at numerous intersections to curb speeding and driving under the influence. A police officer declared that the primary goal was to ensure a safe environment for all citizens while deterring any form of public nuisance.

Government leaders, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, provided warm messages to the residents. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria stated that the festival marks a time for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood. He maintained that the spirit of amity should prevail during such cultural milestones.

Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh echoed these sentiments, asserting that Holi symbolises the triumph of goodwill and the renewal of social ties. He noted that the peaceful coexistence demonstrated during the festivities is a testament to the region’s shared values.
