CHANDIGARH, MAY 15 — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has pledged the state’s total cooperation with the Indian Army to address complex security challenges and emergency response needs. In a high-level meeting with Western Command leadership, the Chief Minister underscored the strategic necessity of a seamless civil-military partnership.
The dialogue with Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh centered on strengthening the defense infrastructure along Punjab’s international border. Both parties stated that ongoing construction and development projects in these sensitive zones would be expedited to ensure peak operational preparedness.
“Close cooperation between civil administration and the armed forces was essential for safeguarding national interests and ensuring swift response during emergencies,” the Chief Minister affirmed. He stated that the meeting also addressed welfare projects for veterans, including housing and recruitment drives for the state’s youth.
The Chief Minister maintained that the state’s resilience depends on a robust internal security mechanism developed in tandem with military experts. He asserted that Punjab’s historic role as a defender of the nation’s integrity continues to guide the government’s policy toward the Armed Forces.
“It is our responsibility to evolve a mutual and foolproof strategy to effectively respond to natural disasters and external threats,” Mann declared. Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and several high-ranking military advisors were present to finalize the collaborative framework.
