Amritsar, May 24: A fatal shooting targeting a commuting traffic police officer sparked widespread panic across the Majitha region on Sunday, prompting a multi-district mobilization of special investigative teams, senior administrative controllers affirmed.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Joga Singh was killed on impact after being intercepted by two masked gunmen during his daily transit toward his station assignment under the Amritsar Police Commissionerate. The field report indicates that the attackers tracked Singh’s routine route from his home district before launching the high-velocity ambush in an open section of the highway connecting Fatehgarh Churian and Majitha.

The tactical response includes the setup of round-the-clock checkpoints along regional border lines to prevent the suspects from crossing out of the district.

“Singh was hit by two bullets — one in the left side of the chest and another in the waist,” a field security officer declared, confirming that the veteran official succumbed to his chest injuries prior to the arrival of first responders.

The narrative surrounding the fatal encounter emphasizes the calculated timing of the hit, which occurred during low-traffic morning hours to ensure a rapid getaway for the motorcycle riders. High-ranking district officers arrived at the scene to oversee forensic recovery and direct ongoing public safety measures. Local authorities noted that specialized intelligence units are currently reviewing close-circuit security footage from surrounding commercial establishments to trace the route taken by the fleeing suspects.
