Tracy, Feb 23: The kidnapping of a well-known sevadar from a Tracy religious center has ended in tragedy following the discovery of a body in Napa County. Avtar Singh, 57, was taken from the Gurdwara Guru Nanak Parkash last week in an incident caught on security cameras.

Law enforcement officials declared that the case was turned over to San Joaquin County investigators after the deceased was located near Lake Berryessa. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office noted that the discovery site was not the primary scene of death, suggesting the victim was transported there after the initial abduction.

CCTV records cited by investigators show Singh being intercepted by three men in dark attire and moved into a white SUV. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office affirmed that the investigation was launched on the evening of the kidnapping at the West Grant Line Road site.

Community members declared that Singh had been a devoted volunteer at the gurdwara for more than 20 years. He was described as a selfless “sevadar” whose presence was central to the daily operations of the temple. Friends of the family asserted that he was a man of great faith and a loving father to his infant triplets.

A memorial fund for the family stated that Singh leaves behind a wife and three six-month-old children. The local Sikh community has expressed profound grief, with many calling for a swift resolution to the criminal inquiry.

Police have not yet released descriptions of the three suspects involved in the kidnapping. Officials maintained that the investigation remains active and urged witnesses or those with relevant footage from the area to come forward.
