SANGRUR, MAY 1 — Residents of 85 villages in the Sangrur district now have access to advanced medical treatment following the dedication of a new Community Health Centre by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The ₹13.23 crore facility in Kauhrian village aims to bridge a decades-long gap in rural medical access, offering everything from minor surgeries to specialist care for children.
The Chief Minister stated that the new infrastructure includes a dedicated emergency block, two labor operation theaters, and a laboratory for diagnostic testing. He affirmed that the center would provide cashless treatment, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent the 4,100 residents of Kauhrian and thousands more in the surrounding area from receiving care.
“This hospital should have been built years ago, but previous governments remained confined to their own families,” Chief Minister Mann asserted during the dedication ceremony. He maintained that his administration is prioritizing the construction of libraries, roads, and healthcare facilities to ensure the rural population receives its fair share of state resources.
Medical services at the site will include free ECGs, blood tests, and mother-and-child healthcare. Dr. Balbir Singh, the state Health Minister, declared that the government is focused on the well-being of every citizen, highlighting the massive investment in health insurance as evidence of this resolve. He stated that the new facility will also address the drug crisis through its integrated de-addiction center.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema affirmed that the establishment of the health center is part of a broader strategy to uplift the Dirba constituency. He stated that by providing modern medical facilities and professional staff, the government is fulfilling a long-standing promise to the people of Punjab to modernize the state’s healthcare delivery system.
