Panipat, Sept 14: Panipat police have apprehended an arms smuggler from Uttar Pradesh, preventing a significant shipment of illegal weapons from entering circulation within the district. A patrol team led by Inspector Virender established a cordon near the Raslapur drain following a tip-off that an individual carrying a bag was waiting to supply illegal firearms to local buyers. The rapid response of the CIA-1 team resulted in the immediate arrest of the suspect before the delivery could take place.
Superintendent of Police Medha Bhushan reported that the search yielded a total of ten country-made weapons alongside 26 live rounds of ammunition. Following his arrest, the suspect was produced in court on Monday, where investigators secured a four-day police remand to examine the operational scope of the smuggling racket. Authorities affirmed that enforcement teams are actively investigating previous supply runs, local contact networks, and cross-border linkages to completely neutralize the supply channel.
