Lucknow, October 28: The Uttar Pradesh government has recorded substantial growth in its institutional paddy purchase drive, extending Minimum Support Price (MSP) coverage to over 37.49 lakh farmers across the state in four years. Comparative state records highlight that 14.87 lakh farmers participated during the previous Samajwadi Party administration’s five-year tenure, indicating that institutional procurement channels expanded by 152 percent within a shorter operational timeframe.

State representatives underscored that government procurement acts as an essential safeguard for agricultural producers, establishing guaranteed pricing structures and shielding rural households from market volatility. The substantial surge in registered beneficiaries underscores systemic improvements in logistical reach and operational efficiency at local procurement centers.

Year-on-year data reveals consistent farmer involvement across successive procurement cycles. The administration recorded 10,95,197 beneficiaries in 2022–23, 8,01,730 in 2023–24, and 7,98,731 in 2024–25. The 2025–26 marketing season saw a notable resurgence, serving 10,53,561 farmers across Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural heartlands.

According to the Food and Civil Supplies Department, regulatory interventions focus on eliminating intermediary inefficiencies, expanding doorstep access, and securing transparent financial settlements for agrarian communities. Administrative priority continues to target seamless onboarding for all eligible farm units state-wide.
