Gangster Linked to Dilpreet Baba Injured in Adampur Encounter

Adampur, May 20:  A gangster affiliated with the Dilpreet Baba gang was injured in a police encounter with Jalandhar Rural police near Kalra village on the Adampur-Mehtiana road early Tuesday morning.

The accused, identified as Paramjit Singh alias Pamma, a resident of Binjon village in Hoshiarpur, sustained a bullet injury in the leg during retaliatory firing and is currently hospitalised.

Senior Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh Virk said Pamma has 19 criminal cases registered against him, including theft, dacoity, drug smuggling and violations of the Arms Act across Jalandhar district.

A team led by DSP (Detective) Inderjit Singh had set up a checkpoint following a tip-off. “Around 6am, the accused, driving a stolen Mahindra Bolero, ignored police signals to stop and attempted to run over personnel at the barricade. After crashing into a roadside signboard, he opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate,” Virk said.

Police recovered two illegal .32 bore pistols, live cartridges and 15 grams of heroin from the vehicle. The SUV was confirmed stolen.

A case has been registered under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the NDPS Act and Arms Act.

He is known for his involvement in several high-profile crimes, including attempted murders, extortion, arms trafficking, and drug smuggling. He has been associated with numerous organized crime activities across Punjab and neighboring states.

Police records list him as a proclaimed offender in multiple cases. Notable Cases: He came into the national spotlight after he allegedly shot at Punjabi singer Parmish Verma in 2018 in Mohali. Verma was injured but survived the attack. He has previously claimed responsibility for crimes through Facebook posts, trying to build a reputation and issue threats.
