Zirakpur, July 7: A 35-year-old married woman ended her life by hanging herself at her in-laws’ residence in Badal Colony, Zirakpur, on Saturday night, police said.
According to officials, the woman retired to her room late in the evening. When she failed to come out after a prolonged period, family members grew concerned and went to check on her. They found her hanging from the ceiling fan and immediately rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
“The body was taken into custody and sent for autopsy,” said Investigating Officer Jaswant Singh. “No suicide note has been recovered from the scene.”
The woman’s parents have been informed, and the next course of action will be taken after their statements are recorded, Singh added.
Police have not disclosed the identity of the deceased or any details about possible circumstances leading up to the incident, as the investigation remains in its preliminary stages.
