CHANDIGARH, July 12— Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Friday visited the Chandigarh Spinal Rehab in Sector 28, praising the centre as a space where “giving up is not an option” and promising sustained government support for its work.

Taking a round of the facility, Kataria interacted with patients and the staff, commending their determination and resilience. “This is not merely a programme, but a celebration of inner strength and renewed spirit,” he told the gathering, adding, “Many of you have turned adversity into a beacon of inspiration for others.”

Addressing patients and caregivers alike, the governor applauded the team’s commitment and care. “You don’t just provide treatment — you instill dignity and self-respect,” he said, acknowledging the transformative role the institution plays in the lives of those it serves.

Kataria also praised founder Nicky P Kaur for her vision and perseverance. “Very few people take up such a noble and challenging initiative,” he noted, calling her efforts both unique and inspiring.

The event featured a short musical performance of Vande Mataram by Flowing Karma — India’s first “Band on Wheels,” composed of patients undergoing spinal rehabilitation. An audio-visual presentation about the work and journey of Chandigarh Spinal Rehab was also showcased.

Reaffirming government commitment, Kataria said institutions like these deserve all possible assistance. “We must stand by those who stand tall despite their struggles,” he said.
