Mann announces aid for Hoshiarpur LPG blast victims

HOSHIARPUR, Aug. 23 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a tanker explosion that occurred late Friday night in Mandialan village of Hoshiarpur district.

Calling it a “major accident,” Mann said the blast of an LPG-filled tanker claimed lives and left several others injured. “I pray to God for peace to the departed souls and for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he said in a statement.

The chief minister announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and assured free treatment for those injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also extended his condolences. “This accident in Mandialan village is very sad. My condolences are with the affected families, and I pray for the quick recovery of the injured,” Kejriwal said. He added that the Punjab government is providing “all possible help” to victims and their families.

Officials said investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the explosion, which shook the area and triggered panic among villagers.
