Chandigarh/Mumbai, Sept. 6 — Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has stepped forward to assist the victims of Punjab’s worst floods in history, donating Rs 5 crore to help provide relief materials for affected families. The actor, who is known both for his on-screen performances and philanthropic work, described the contribution not as a donation but as a service.
In a conversation with an English media outlet, Kumar said, “Yes, I am donating Rs 5 crore to buy relief materials for the flood victims of Punjab, but who am I to donate to anyone? When I get an opportunity to extend a helping hand, I feel blessed. For me, it is my service, my small contribution.”
The actor also prayed for the state, expressing hope that Punjab would soon overcome the crisis and that families affected by the floods could return to normal life. His gesture has been widely praised across social media and news platforms.
Alongside Kumar’s initiative, the Punjab Kings cricket team has renewed its appeal for public donations to assist flood victims. A video featuring Indian cricketer Harpreet Singh Brar was released urging fans to contribute and support relief efforts in the state.
Kumar’s intervention comes at a critical time, as thousands of families in Punjab continue to battle displacement, damage to crops, and disruption of daily life due to continuous flooding.
