Panchkula, Sept 22: Panchkula police have deployed 972 security personnel for the upcoming Ashwin Navratri fair at Mata Mansa Devi Temple, scheduled from September 22 to October 1. The measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of thousands of devotees expected to visit during the nine-day festival.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Srishti Gupta inspected the fairgrounds and reviewed arrangements with senior officials. She said the temple draws large crowds not only from Panchkula but also from neighbouring states, making “strict security measures crucial to prevent any untoward incidents or stampede.”

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), the deployment will include 542 personnel from Panchkula police along with a significant number of women officers. To strengthen arrangements, an additional 430 personnel from Panipat, Sonipat, Hisar, and the Durga Shakti Force will join the deployment. ACP-level officers will oversee overall supervision.

Security provisions include officers in plain clothes to monitor anti-social elements, a temporary control room inside the fairground, and 12 naka points to check vehicles and suspicious individuals. Emergency Response Vehicles, Police Control Room vans, and rider teams will conduct continuous patrolling. Officials added that binoculars, body cameras, and CCTV surveillance will be used to monitor the crowd.

Beyond the Mansa Devi temple, police have also tightened security at nearby religious sites such as Kali Mata Temple in Kalka, Mata Sharda Temple in Trilokpur (Raipur Rani), Chandi Mata Temple, and Mata Samlotha Devi Temple in Morni.
