Delhi Police rescue 7-year-old kidnapped by mother’s ex-partner

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, Oct 3— Delhi Police on Friday rescued a seven-year-old boy kidnapped by his mother’s former live-in partner in West Delhi in an attempt to coerce her into resuming their relationship. The main accused, Ajay Verma, a resident of Hansi, Haryana, along with three associates, has been arrested, officials said.

The case came to light after the boy’s mother filed a complaint at Vikas Puri police station on September 28, reporting that her son had not returned from school the previous day. She suspected Verma, citing his previous violent and possessive behaviour during their relationship. Investigators later confirmed that the child, from the woman’s earlier marriage, had been abducted to pressure her into reuniting with Verma.

Police immediately registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage revealed two men taking the boy away on a motorcycle. Despite repeated attempts by Verma to evade tracking by switching off his phone, authorities traced his movements through technical surveillance and social media monitoring.

The manhunt led to a farmhouse in Hansi, where Verma and two of his associates were located with the child. The boy was rescued unharmed. In a parallel operation, police apprehended another accomplice in Delhi and recovered a country-made pistol from his residence.

Officials said Verma had conspired with his friends Amit and Sachin from Hisar, who sheltered him, while another associate from Vikas Puri assisted in the abduction. Mobile phones used during the crime were also seized.

Two cases have been registered: one under the kidnapping provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and another under the Arms Act.
