Kaithal, October 18 – In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, Kaithal police arrested four men and recovered 305.1 kilograms of doda post valued at Rs 40 lakh from two vehicles, officials said. The seizure was made under the ongoing “Drug-Free Kaithal” campaign launched on the directions of Superintendent of Police Upasana.
DSP Sushil Prakash said the operation was executed by the special detective unit under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Ramesh Kumar, along with Sub-Inspector Mukesh Kumar and their team. “Acting on a tip-off that two vehicles were transporting a large quantity of doda post from Khanauri bypass toward Kaithal, our team set up a naka on Padla Road,” he said.
Around 6 a.m., two white cars bearing Haryana and Uttar Pradesh registration numbers approached the checkpoint. “When signalled to stop, the drivers tried to speed away, but our team swiftly intercepted them,” the DSP said. All four occupants were apprehended on the spot.
The accused were identified as Gurjant Singh and Inder Singh of Alipur Rahian village, and Naseeb Singh and Jagga Singh of Dhabi Gujran village, both in Patiala district of Punjab. A search of the vehicles in the presence of the DSP led to the recovery of 149.31 kg of doda post from 10 sacks in one car and 155.79 kg from 11 sacks in the other, totaling 305.10 kg.
Police have also seized both vehicles used in the transportation of the contraband. “Preliminary investigation indicates that the accused had procured the doda post from Kota, Rajasthan. The team will seek police remand to trace the supply route and identify other members of the network,” Prakash said.
Officials said the operation reflects the department’s firm commitment to dismantling drug supply chains across the region. “The campaign against narcotics will continue with greater intensity,” the DSP added.
