CHANDIGARH — In the Panjab University student council elections, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad candidate Ankit Bidhan emerged victorious in the presidential contest, gathering 2,879 votes to lead the student body. Bidhan, who completed his graduation in Jind before entering the law faculty and pursuing doctoral research at Panjab University, credited the student electorate for supporting his organization’s platform.

The election campaign saw strategic realignments, including formal backing from the Student Organisation of India shortly before balloting, which consolidated support across departments. Speaking after the declaration of results, Bidhan declared that the victory reflects the faith of the younger generation in the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the student wing’s continuous campus advocacy since 2021.

The result marks the second straight year that ABVP has won the council presidency, reinforcing its position following its initial presidential victory last year through Gaurav Veer Sohal. Organizational leaders maintained that the victory extends beyond routine student union matters, viewing the repeated electoral success as a broader indication of changing political preferences among the university’s student demographic.
