Chandigarh, October 20: In a historic tribute to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on his 350th martyrdom anniversary, the Punjab government has finalised the schedule of four Nagar Kirtans that will pass through all districts of the state and converge at Sri Anandpur Sahib.
For the first time, the state has directed that meat, liquor and tobacco shops remain shut along the routes during the processions. Deputy Commissioners and district police chiefs have been asked to ensure total compliance.
Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department officials, along with Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Tourism Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund and Advisor Deepak Bali, reviewed preparations and finalised the event outline.
The processions will begin from Srinagar, Gurdaspur, Faridkot and Talwandi Sabo on November 19 and 20. They will pass through key towns including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Patiala, Jalandhar and Mohali before converging at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22.
Officials said these processions will symbolise Punjab’s spiritual unity and the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, whose sacrifice continues to inspire generations.
