Road accident on Jammu Ring Road leaves 50 injured

by TheReportingTimes

JAMMU, Dec 29 — About 50 people were injured when a Punjab Roadways bus collided with a crane on the Jammu Ring Road, officials said. Three to four passengers were seriously hurt and have been referred to GMC Jammu for treatment.

“Work was underway to install streetlights using a crane when the bus lost control and hit it,” said Satish Kumar, a police officer at the scene. “The collision caused severe damage to the bus’s front, and rescue operations began immediately.”

Emergency teams transported the injured to nearby hospitals. Police and local administration managed relief operations and cleared the road, which had been blocked for several hours, causing major traffic disruptions.

Authorities have appealed to drivers to remain cautious, follow speed limits, and watch for construction zones. An inquiry has been initiated to determine whether the crane had proper safety signage in place.
