AAP Leaders Claim Union Home Minister Orchestrated Defection Plot

Spokesperson alleges Raghav Chadha offered cabinet berth to bring seven MPs into BJP fold

Chandigarh, April 24: The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the BJP of attempting to orchestrate a mass defection of its federal lawmakers, alleging that Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha was offered a cabinet post to lead the move. During a press conference on Friday, party officials stated that the BJP is leveraging the Enforcement Directorate to pressure MPs into shifting their political allegiance.

Chief spokesperson Baltej Pannu affirmed that the alleged plan involved Chadha bringing seven AAP MPs into the BJP ranks. Pannu declared that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is behind the initiative, asserting that the promise of a ministerial berth at the Centre was the primary incentive offered to Chadha. As part of the deal, Raghav Chadha was asked to bring seven AAP MPs to the BJP, Pannu stated.

The allegations were further supported by Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, who maintained that the purported negotiations were designed to fracture the party’s unity. Hayer affirmed that Chadha had effectively made a deal to create a rift in the AAP in exchange for personal political gain. He asserted that the Rajya Sabha member has compromised the interests of Punjab by engaging with the central leadership in this manner.

Party leaders maintained that the use of central agencies to instill fear is a key component of the BJP’s strategy. Pannu stated that the administration is standing firm against these efforts, declaring that the attempt to destabilize the party through such conspiracies will not succeed. The AAP leadership affirmed that they remain vigilant against any further attempts to interfere with the integrity of their legislative members.
