Chandigarh, Jan 8: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday formally inducted two Haryana judicial officers as Additional Judges, with Chief Justice Sheel Nagu administering the oath of office to Ramesh Chander Dimri and Neerja Kulwant Kalson.
The Centre had notified their appointments on January 2 through a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. The notification stated that the President appointed the two officers as Additional Judges of the High Court.
Their elevation follows the recommendation of the Supreme Court collegium, which had approved their names during its meeting on December 16, 2025.
With the swearing-in, the working strength of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has gone up to 61 judges.
The appointments come amid continued focus on reducing case pendency. As per data available on the National Judicial Data Grid, the High Court currently has 4,20,880 pending cases.
This marks a decline of over 11,000 cases compared to January 2025, when the pendency stood at 4,32,227, indicating a gradual easing of the backlog.
