Mohali | January 10, 2026: Eight new sports courts — six for badminton and two for volleyball — were inaugurated across Mohali on Friday by Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, marking a fresh push towards community-level sports development in the district.

Built using MPLADS funds, the courts are located in Phase-11, Sector-79, Sector-74 Industrial Area, Village Dhurali and Village Mote Majra, ensuring wider access for young players from different parts of Mohali.

Addressing local residents and youth groups, Chadha said public funds must be used to create opportunities that improve lives.

“Providing safe spaces for the youth to play, grow and dream — that is the real purpose of public funds,” he said.

He said sports infrastructure plays a key role in building fitness, confidence and positive habits among young people.

“This infrastructure paves the way for healthy habits and a bright future for the youth,” the MP added.

Community members said the new courts would reduce dependence on distant facilities and encourage greater participation in organised sports at the local level.

Reiterating his commitment to youth empowerment, Chadha said strengthening sports facilities at the grassroots would continue to be a focus area as part of his broader vision for Punjab’s development.
