Haryana allocates land for Panipat institute

by TheReportingTimes

Panipat, Jan 22: The Haryana government will provide 10 acres of land in Panipat for the establishment of an international-level textile institute. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the decision during a pre-budget consultation meeting involving representatives from the textile and food processing industries across Panipat, Sonepat, and Karnal.

The Chief Minister noted that Panipat’s legacy as a historic city of weavers has brought recognition to both the state and the country. He mentioned that the new institute is designed to meet industry demands by providing technical expertise that aligns with global standards.

“Keeping in view Panipat’s legacy and the demands of industry organisations, the institute will provide technical expertise as per international standards,” Saini said.

The state government has also decided to extend the Haryana Aatmanirbhar Textile Policy by one year. The policy, which was originally set to expire earlier, will now remain valid until December 18, 2026. Data shared by the Chief Minister indicated that 354 applications have been received under this policy, with grants totaling Rs 367 crore already approved.

Saini said this extension reflects the trust entrepreneurs have in the state’s administrative framework. He further noted that the capital investment subsidy scheme will no longer have a cap on the number of cases, ensuring that all eligible entrepreneurs receive government support.

The Chief Minister referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Five-F” vision—Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign—as a roadmap for the state. He said the textile sector serves as a bridge connecting India to the world market, much like a loom weaves threads together.

Addressing the shift toward sustainable manufacturing, Saini noted a growing global demand for chemical-free and naturally dyed textiles. He said Panipat is well-positioned to lead this transition through waste-to-wealth initiatives and the production of antibacterial textiles.

“When Panipat’s textiles reach Europe or America, the label ‘Made in India’ and ‘Made in Haryana’ should become a global guarantee of quality,” the Chief Minister said.
