SAHIBJADA AJIT SINGH NAGAR (Mohali) Jan 22 — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal distributed Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna cards to beneficiaries on Thursday, signaling the start of a universal healthcare era in Punjab.
The new policy provides a ₹10 lakh annual health cover to every household, effectively making Punjab the only state to offer a “four-pillar” free service model encompassing health, education, power, and transport for women. The scheme includes 850 government and private hospitals across Punjab and Chandigarh, ensuring that even the most expensive medical facilities are now available to the common man.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann mentioned that the scheme is designed to be inclusive, covering government employees, pensioners, and daily wage earners alike. He noted that the state has expanded the list of covered treatments to include neurosurgery, oncology, and knee replacements.

“If anyone registers for this scheme today, they become eligible for its benefits from today itself,” Mann said. He noted that the administration is working relentlessly to ensure that financial pressure never dictates the survival of a patient.
Arvind Kejriwal, speaking at the event, said that the phase Punjab is currently experiencing will be written in golden letters in the state’s history. He mentioned that the government has successfully recruited 1,100 specialist doctors and upgraded medical machinery in state-run facilities to rival private standards.
“Today such a Yojna is being implemented under which the best and most premium private hospitals of Punjab, where even the richest people go for treatment, will now also be accessible to the poorest,” Kejriwal said.
The AAP National Convenor also addressed the state’s progress in governance, mentioning that the current leadership has shown the courage to act against corruption and drug networks that previously operated with impunity. He noted that while other political factions are busy with internal conflicts, the AAP remains dedicated to building a safe and prosperous future for Punjabi families.
Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and senior leaders including Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain were also present at the launch, which officials described as a benchmark for public welfare delivery in India.
