New Delhi, March 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a collective national effort to face the economic repercussions of the West Asia crisis, asserting that the government is making every possible effort to minimize the burden on citizens. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, the Prime Minister stated that a decade of diversification in energy and green technology has placed India in a stronger position to handle the current maritime challenges in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Prime Minister affirmed that India’s diplomatic stance has remained clear from the outset, centered on de-escalation and the cessation of conflict. He stated that he has personally communicated with various regional leaders to advocate for the safety of energy infrastructure and the protection of civilians. The Prime Minister noted that while Indian worries are naturally high, the country’s preparedness in railway electrification and fertilizer stockpiling is helping to keep domestic supply chains functional.

On the issue of citizen safety, the Prime Minister maintained that constant communication is being held with Gulf nations. He confirmed that 3.75 lakh Indians have been repatriated so far, including 1,000 individuals from Iran. To prevent internal disruptions, the Prime Minister declared that law enforcement agencies are monitoring the situation closely to thwart attempts at exploiting the crisis through misinformation.

“If we stay united as a nation, we can face any challenge,” the Prime Minister stated, urging a focused approach toward national security. He asserted that the government’s primary goal is to ensure that maritime corridors remain secure for the transport of crude oil and gas. He concluded by reiterating that India remains committed to its long-standing position that conflict must be resolved through diplomatic channels rather than military escalation.
