Chandiagrh, April 1: Renowned Punjabi actor and comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi formally approached the Cyber Crime Department on Wednesday following a series of allegations surfaced by a Canada-based YouTuber. The entertainer categorically denied claims involving a purported Rs 5 crore payment to an actress and a rumored personal relationship, labeling the narrative as an attempt to tarnish his three-decade career.
The controversy gained momentum after the YouTuber’s assertions circulated widely on social media platforms. Ghuggi maintained that his professional journey has been established on integrity and hard work, asserting that the claims are “completely false and fabricated.” He noted that the misinformation has caused significant emotional distress to his family, colleagues, and close associates.
“I am prepared to take legal action if necessary,” the actor declared while confirming that authorities are actively investigating the source of the rumors. Ghuggi expressed gratitude toward digital content creators and fans who assisted in identifying those allegedly responsible for the smear campaign. He specifically cited support from individuals known as Freshy Canadian and Italy Wala for their role in bringing the matter to the attention of law enforcement.
While addressing the public, Ghuggi warned of the broader dangers posed by fake news and the impact of false narratives on public perception. He stated that he remains committed to his philosophy of “Charddi Kala,” or eternal optimism, and will continue to focus on his professional projects despite the ongoing investigation.
