Jalandhar, April 3: A special train carrying hundreds of devotees for the Damri Yatra was officially dispatched from Jalandhar today, marked by a ceremony led by Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat. The initiative reflects the Punjab government’s ongoing efforts to support religious heritage and promote the teachings of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji.
Accompanied by spiritual leaders and AAP representatives, the Minister highlighted the importance of a society based on equality and mutual love. He asserted that the teachings of the great Guru serve as a permanent guide for humanity, inspiring people to transcend religious and racial divides.
“Those nations always move forward and progress which remember their Gurus,” Advisor Deepak Bali stated during the event. He affirmed that following the lead of spiritual icons ensures the welfare and development of all sections of the populace.
Minister Mohinder Bhagat maintained that the state is working on a “war footing” to prepare for the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas Ji. He stated that the government intends to celebrate the occasion with global outreach initiatives to highlight the Guru’s contribution to social reform.
The flagging-off ceremony included local leaders such as Rajwinder Kaur Thiara and Dinesh Dhall, who joined the saints in blessing the pilgrims. Authorities affirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and safe journey for the devotees traveling to Haridwar.
