CHANDIGARH, APRIL 8: Punjab Police conducted over 44,000 raids during a recent eight-week period, officials declared on April 8. The “Gangstran Te Vaar” campaign has focused on neutralizing threats from narco-syndicates and gangster groups through both arrests and preventive detentions.
Data released by the department shows that 7,494 individuals were placed under preventive detention to stop criminal activities before they could be executed. Among those caught in the wider net were 714 proclaimed offenders who had been evading the law for extended periods.
“The community and the state are seeing a relentless crackdown until the backbone of organized crime is completely dismantled,” an official stated regarding the ongoing operations.
The logistics of the criminal underworld were heavily impacted during the drive. Police reported the recovery of 81 magazines, 125 sharp-edged weapons, and 10 drones used for illicit activities. Furthermore, the seizure of 10 drones and various explosives pointed to the dangerous capabilities these networks had developed.
The government maintained that a zero-tolerance approach is being strictly enforced to ensure no criminal network operates with impunity. Officials affirmed that by targeting the support systems—including relatives and associates who provide logistical aid—the police are ensuring the entire structure of organized crime is weakened across Punjab.
