‘Foreign Influence’ Suspected by UP Minister in Noida Protest

Minister cites recent terror arrests while probing 'well-planned' conspiracy behind protests

NOIDA, APRIL 14: A senior Uttar Pradesh official declared Monday that the violent protests which crippled Noida’s industrial sectors were likely fueled by a conspiracy rooted in Pakistan. Labor Minister Anil Rajbhar suggested that the transition from peaceful wage demonstrations to organized arson indicates the involvement of external anti-national forces.

The Minister’s statement comes after thousands of factory workers blocked major arterial routes, including the DND Flyway and NH-24, leaving commuters stranded for nearly six hours. Authorities are now investigating if local operatives were guided by foreign handlers to create instability within the state.

“The incident appears to have been carried out with the intention of disrupting the development and law and order of the state,” Rajbhar stated. He further noted that the possibility of a conspiracy gains strength when viewed alongside the recent apprehension of four terror suspects in the Meerut-Noida belt.

While workers sought a wage revision from current levels to approximately ₹20,000, the demonstration’s shift toward stone-pelting and property damage prompted a heavy police response. Rajbhar maintained that agencies are seriously investigating the backward linkages of those involved in the violence to determine the extent of foreign interference.

In response to the unrest, the provincial government has formed a high-level committee and implemented an immediate hike in minimum wages across several categories. In the Noida region, semi-skilled and skilled workers will now see their monthly earnings rise to ₹15,059 and ₹16,868 respectively, as officials move to stabilize the local economy and prevent further exploitation of labor grievances by outside elements.
