Hoshiarpur, April 20: The Punjab Police announced the arrest of four individuals on Monday in connection with a large-scale drug trafficking and arms smuggling module. The operation in Hoshiarpur led to the recovery of over nine kilograms of heroin and specialized firearm equipment intended for local distribution.
Police officials noted that the suspects are believed to have acted on behalf of international criminal figures to facilitate the movement of drugs and weapons. Investigators affirmed that the recovered 9.925 kg of heroin and two foreign-made pistols highlight the sophisticated nature of the network.
DGP Gaurav Yadav affirmed that the arrests were the result of a coordinated effort by the Hoshiarpur district police. He stated that the module had established deep connections with foreign-based gangsters to destabilize the region through illegal trade.
“The accused were acting as local handlers of foreign-based gangsters involved in drug trafficking,” Yadav declared. He asserted that the department is committed to uncovering the full extent of the module’s operations through a detailed probe.
Following the registration of a case at the Garhshankar police station, security agencies are now focusing on the logistical routes used by the syndicate. Officials maintained that the seizure of 40 live cartridges and eight magazines underscores the potential threat posed by the group’s illegal arms wing.
