Chandigarh, April 23: Law enforcement agencies in Punjab have intensified surveillance after a “sensational” email threatened to disrupt the state’s law and order. The message, which surfaced as the administration prepares for an April 24 mock drill, warns of coordinated bombings at schools and vital railway tracks in several major cities.
The threat identifies Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bathinda, and Ferozepur as locations where railway operations could be disrupted. In an unusual detail, the senders appealed directly to parents to keep children at home, declaring that their objective is to grab the government’s attention rather than harm students. Despite these claims, the police have treated the matter with the utmost seriousness, deploying additional forces to both transit hubs and public spaces.
The Railway Police declared that the security of the stations is now under constant monitoring, with every individual entering the premises subject to thorough checks. An official asserted that the cancellation of leave for all personnel ensures a maximum security presence during the upcoming mock drill. The Cyber Cell noted that they are currently analyzing the metadata of the email to track the “Khalistan National Army” syndicate mentioned in the text.
State authorities have urged citizens to ignore unverified rumors and rely on official updates. Officials maintained that proactive interventions, including the heightened visibility of armed guards and increased patrolling, are being carried out to sustain peace. Residents have been instructed to immediately alert the police to any suspicious packages or individuals through the standard emergency helpline.
