Chandigarh, April 24: Punjab’s dual crackdown on drug trafficking and organized crime has reached new milestones, with over 60,000 arrests made in the fight against narcotics and 23,000 in the drive against gangsters. Baltej Pannu, Punjab State Media In-charge, declared that the “Yudh Nashean Virudh” and “Gangstran Te Vaar” campaigns are being executed successfully due to the firm resolve of the Bhagwant Mann administration.

The anti-drug campaign, which has been active for 417 days, saw the arrest of 98 smugglers and the recovery of 1.1 kilograms of heroin in its most recent 24-hour cycle. Pannu affirmed that the total number of arrests in the narcotics sector has now surpassed the 60,000 mark. He stated that the unwavering commitment of the government is ensuring that these drives maintain their momentum.

In a parallel effort to dismantle criminal networks, the “Gangstran Te Vaar” initiative has logged 92 days of operations. Pannu asserted that police have arrested 23,140 people to date under this campaign. He maintained that the strategy relies heavily on intelligence and public trust, noting that the state has established a dedicated helpline to protect the identity of informants.

A dedicated helpline has been set up where people can share information confidentially, ensuring their identity remains protected, Pannu declared. He stated that the active cooperation of the people of Punjab has been a decisive factor in these outcomes. Pannu maintained that the police will continue their high-intensity operations to ensure that organized crime and drug networks are entirely eliminated from the state.
