Sangrur, April 30: A major sports infrastructure project commenced in Sangrur district on Thursday as Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the construction of a new ₹14.63 crore stadium. The facility aims to transform the village of Satouj into a center for professional athletic development.
The 4.38-acre site is slated to include specialized areas for handball, judo, netball, and karate, among other sports. By offering a 200-meter track and modern indoor halls, the government intends to provide youngsters with the resources necessary to compete at the highest levels.
The Chief Minister asserted that the combination of quality schools and proper sports grounds is the foundation for success. “When there is a good school for education and a proper ground for sports, a child can bring glory to their village, state, and country on the global stage,” he declared.
The administration maintained that the development is a key component of the state’s commitment to building a drug-free environment. Officials stated that such investments play a vital role in encouraging discipline and physical fitness among the younger generation.
“In this stadium, professional training opportunities will be provided to children and youngsters, and with this development, the area will emerge as a sports hub,” the Chief Minister affirmed. He further stated that the initiative is a source of pride for the Punjab Government as it works to fulfill its promise of world-class educational and athletic opportunities for all citizens.
