Bhagwant Singh Mann targets opposition over past misrule and drug patronage

by TheReportingTimes

Hoshiarpur, May 4: During a high-profile interaction with residents in Hoshiarpur district, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that the era of political leaders looting the state exchequer has ended. The Chief Minister stated that his government is judiciously spending every rupee of taxpayer money on pro-people initiatives, such as the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, which provides monthly financial assistance to women over the age of 18. He affirmed that these concessions are permanent fixtures of his governance model as long as his party remains at the helm.

The Chief Minister noted that the recently passed amendment regarding the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib marks a historic turning point for the state. He asserted that the new law, which stipulates life imprisonment for offenders, will serve as a permanent deterrent against heinous crimes aimed at disturbing communal harmony. Bhagwant Singh Mann maintained that the state government is “duty bound” to ensure the safety of the holy Granth and that he has received global support for this legislative step.

“These forces are now hell bent upon tarnishing my image with baseless, irrational, illogical and misleading propaganda,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed. He stated that traditional parties treated the public merely as vote banks, whereas his administration focuses on sharing the agonies of the people. The Chief Minister maintained that the opposition’s “cheap theatrics” would not deter him from his role, which he intends to discharge “till my last breath.”

Addressing the state’s economic and social challenges, the Chief Minister stated that education is the only key to eliminating poverty. He noted significant achievements in the agricultural sector, including the provision of eight hours of uninterrupted daytime power for farm tube wells for the first time in history. He asserted that while the Akali Dal’s “Punjab Bachao Yatra” is actually a “Parivar Bachao Yatra,” his government is busy transforming the state into “Rangla Punjab” through health cards, canal water expansion, and the closure of exploitative toll plazas.
