Gurugram, May 4: Gurugram’s infrastructure is set for a major upgrade as the GMDA initiates the tender process for a model road project valued at Rs 9 crore. The project targets the dividing road of Sectors 51 and 52, transforming a deteriorating stretch known for dust and traffic jams into a sophisticated, flood-resistant corridor. The authority has moved away from routine maintenance in favor of a full-scale reconstruction using high-quality materials designed to endure heavy traffic volume.
The engineering plan centers on a dual-drainage system intended to keep the road dry during heavy rains. Beyond flood mitigation, the model road is designed to improve the overall quality of life for the thousands of people who navigate the area daily. Features such as modern LED lighting and clearly defined footpaths are intended to make the corridor safer for both motorists and pedestrians.
“The contractor will be required to complete construction within six months of the work being awarded,” officials declared regarding the project’s timeline.
Residents of nearby high-rise apartments and local villages have reported that the current state of the road is a major source of inconvenience. GMDA representatives noted that the new design would streamline traffic movement and significantly reduce the environmental impact of road dust. By elevating the standard of this specific stretch, the authority aims to set a new benchmark for future road projects across the city.
“This intervention is expected to permanently eliminate flooding on the stretch,” officials asserted, declaring the drainage upgrades as the project’s most critical component.
