Jalandhar, May 8: The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate became the site of a political standoff today as BJP leadership demanded legal action against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his recent commentary on state-wide explosions. Party workers gathered at the DAC complex with banners and flags before marching to the CP office, where they declared the Chief Minister’s statements were a threat to public order and political enmity.
The delegation, which included former MLAs and senior officials, affirmed that the Chief Minister had failed to consult with the state’s top police officials before making public accusations. They asserted that the statements were defamatory and carried the potential to create widespread mischief within the state.
“Is there no discussion between the state Chief Minister and the DGP?” Manoranjan Kalia asked while speaking to the media. He stated that the discrepancy between the executive’s claims and the police department’s reports requires a formal investigation into the Chief Minister’s conduct.
The BJP maintains that the allegations are particularly egregious given the party’s historical stance on national security. Sushil Rinku declared that the Chief Minister’s rhetoric was a political maneuver that ignored established security protocols. He asserted that without concrete proof of the BJP’s involvement in the blasts, the statements constitute a serious breach of official responsibility.
According to the complaint filed with the Jalandhar police, the party is seeking charges under sections pertaining to sedition. The leaders affirmed that they would continue to press for an apology or a formal inquiry, stating that the security of Punjab should not be used for partisan political gains.
