Chandigarh, June 13: The India Meteorological Department has forecast a five-day spell of rain across Chandigarh and multiple districts of Haryana, continuing until June 17. According to the weather office, the precipitation is being driven by active western disturbances moving over the region. On Saturday, rainfall was expected in a few places across Chandigarh and 18 districts of Haryana, including Panchkula, Ambala, Gurugram, and Faridabad.

While the wet spell will continue through the week, the IMD noted that the intensity is expected to fluctuate. By Sunday, June 14, the rain activity is projected to scale back, shifting to isolated pockets in seven districts, including Mahendragarh, Rewari, and Sirsa. As per weather classification standards, a forecast for “a few places” means coverage over 25 to 50 percent of the area, while “isolated places” denotes coverage up to 25 percent.

A resurgence of the weather system is anticipated on June 15, with isolated showers spreading back to most of Chandigarh and Haryana, barring Sirsa and Fatehabad. Light to moderate rain will then continue at isolated locations across 15 districts on June 16, and cover 18 districts by June 17. Regarding the thermal conditions, Surender Paul, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Chandigarh, stated that day temperatures will see a gradual rise of four to six degrees over the next five days, after which the maximum temperatures are expected to stabilize.
