NEW DELHI, SEPT 12: Regular passenger services between Guangzhou and New Delhi will officially resume from September 21, China Southern Airlines declared on Saturday. Representatives of the leading Chinese airline noted that this move aligns with a broader expansion in South Asia, where the enterprise will operate more than one hundred flights each week across eight round-trip connections.
The timing of the announcement aligns with the bilateral summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled alongside the BRICS summit in India. Both leaders are expected to review ongoing efforts to strengthen relations and restore economic and diplomatic momentum.
Commercial flight operations were initially suspended in 2020 amid global pandemic protocols and stayed paused throughout the military standoff in eastern Ladakh, which concluded in October last year. The restoration of the Guangzhou-New Delhi route signifies a formal resumption of passenger traffic between the two nations following six years without direct flight connections.
