Chandigarh, May 13: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared Tuesday that Punjab’s education sector has reached a new milestone, with the state now leading the country in primary and middle-school rankings. The announcement coincided with the release of the Class 10 board results, which saw girls outshine boys with a pass percentage of 95.96% compared to 93.23%.

The Chief Minister maintained that the “Sikhya Kranti” initiative has successfully transformed the quality of learning in government schools. He asserted that the merit list, which includes 272 students, highlights the academic dominance of female students, who secured 220 of those positions.

“Our Government is continuously striving to further strengthen the education infrastructure so that every child, whether from villages or cities, gets equal opportunities,” Mann stated. He noted that the integration of smart classrooms and professional development for educators has allowed Punjab to move ahead of states like Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi.

During the event, the top three performers—Harleen Sharma, Manimahesh Sharma, and Riya Rani—expressed their appreciation for the government’s initiatives, including access to free IIT and JEE coaching. Mann affirmed that their dedication and hard work have brought pride to the entire state.

The Chief Minister declared that the administration’s focus on “people-centric” education is reflected in the 1,688 government schools that recorded 100% results. He maintained that the government would continue to invest in the Schools of Eminence to ensure that talented students from ordinary backgrounds have a platform to excel in various professional fields. Secretary Education Sonali Giri and other senior officials were also present to mark the occasion.
