Dhaliwal Commends Amritsar Police for Arrest in High-Profile Threat Case

Multi-state digital terror ring uncovered with operational ties to Pakistan and Bangladesh

Chandigarh, May 23: A major breakthrough in countering digital security threats has been achieved with the arrest of a key cyber terror suspect accused of targeting premier religious and administrative institutions in Punjab, lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal affirmed Friday.

The successful operation, executed by the Amritsar Police, tracked the suspect to a hideout in West Bengal. The individual allegedly formed part of a multi-state conspiracy designed to induce public panic by transmitting false explosive threats via digital platforms to academic institutions and government installations throughout the region.

According to investigations, the suspect maintained direct communication channels with cross-border elements based in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

“Cyber terror network had links with Pakistan and Bangladesh; accused issued bomb threats through emails and WhatsApp,” Dhaliwal stated during an afternoon briefing.

The state’s counter-strategy marks a critical evolution in how local law enforcement manages unconventional warfare. Dhaliwal noted that while virtual platforms allow bad actors to manipulate public peace from anywhere globally, the tactical precision of the state police effectively shut down the operational node.

The narrative also detailed ongoing anti-narcotics sweeps within the province. Dhaliwal asserted that the current administration has taken unprecedented steps to jail major cartel leaders, a contrast to the enforcement approaches of previous governments.

He concluded by calling for collaborative defense measures, emphasizing that the central government must supply advanced anti-drone equipment and modernized weaponry to Border Security Force personnel stationed along Punjab’s riverine and land borders.

“The AAP government is fully committed to protecting every individual,” Dhaliwal declared.
