Dhuri, July 2: Millions of women across Punjab began receiving direct financial support following the formal launch of the Mukh Mantri Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday. The launch satisfies the final major policy commitment established prior to the 2022 state assembly elections, establishing a massive social safety net that provides monthly allowances directly to female residents over the age of eighteen. The state apparatus has already registered over forty lakh women under the system, which expects to eventually cover nearly the entire female demographic of the state.
The distribution mechanism utilizes direct bank transfers to deliver 1,000 rupees per month to general beneficiaries and 1,500 rupees per month to women belonging to the Scheduled Caste community. To mark the official commencement, the state treasury cleared a combined three-month advance covering July, August, and September, translating into immediate bank deposits of either 3,000 or 4,500 rupees. The administration clarified that the financial aid operates independently of existing welfare provisions, meaning women already receiving standard state pensions will automatically get the new payouts as well.
The Chief Minister asserted that the program is fully funded and legally secured to remain active indefinitely. He declared that public funds are being carefully managed to ensure that resources return directly to citizens via enhanced school networks, public hospitals, and robust social security frameworks. “Our government has launched this scheme with meticulous planning to ensure that it continues uninterrupted in the years ahead. This financial assistance will provide significant support to economically weaker families while also serving as a mark of respect for our mothers and daughters,” the Chief Minister stated.
The operational guidelines released by the government indicate that there is no rigid closing date for applications, allowing eligible citizens to register freely at local civic points including nearby Anganwadi centers, Sewa Kendras, and block administrative offices. The processing protocol requires standard residency verification documents, identity cards, and linked banking details. Officials noted that subsequent approvals will trigger full back-pay to the statutory start date of July first.
Cabinet members and senior dignitaries present at the Dhuri launch event observed that the digital distribution system minimises administrative delays, allowing immediate text message confirmations to reach the beneficiaries. National representatives of the ruling front maintained that the synchronized approach of combining major educational and medical upgrades with direct financial empowerment sets a new standard for public welfare systems.
Chief Minister Mann affirmed that the fiscal independence generated by the initiative would naturally translate into greater female representation in domestic and community-level financial choices. He declared that strengthening the economic standing of women remains a fundamental necessity for holistic societal growth, promising that the state will continue to prioritize measures that defend the honor and self-reliance of citizens.
