Chandigarh, May 23: NEET-UG candidates across Haryana can travel free of cost on the state’s public roadways bus network to reach their examination hubs next month, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini affirmed Saturday.
The administrative concession will run for a 48-hour window encompassing June 20 and June 21 to cover both pre-exam travel and the actual day of the national re-test. The policy shift ensures that any registered student displaying a valid examination hall ticket can access standard state transport routes without paying a fare, a measure intended to reduce travel-related anxiety for thousands of local families.
The decision arrives in the wake of widespread national disruption following the cancellation of the original May 3 medical entrance test due to widespread testing irregularities.
“This initiative aims to help students reach their examination centres smoothly and alleviate any travel-related stress,” Saini stated.
The operational strategy follows similar transit interventions designed to ease candidate commutes for major recruitment drives, including the state’s previous CET operations. The regional development also links with broader political responses across northern states; earlier in the week, Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal advocated for similar student relief measures, prompting the Punjab Government to pass its own free transit package for applicants.
State representatives maintained that the primary objective of the transport intervention is to protect the academic interests and welfare of the student community during a challenging examination cycle.
