Badagaon, June 25: Multiple police teams are currently conducting raids across various locations following the fatal shooting of a 75-year-old man, allegedly by his own grandson, in Badagaon village. The authorities have registered a formal case and are actively tracking the suspect, who remains at large.
The victim, Darshan Singh, lost his life following a heated confrontation regarding family land division. Investigators noted that frequent domestic disputes had been occurring between the elderly man and the accused, Sonu, establishing the property disagreement as the central catalyst for the crime.
The situation escalated dramatically on Thursday afternoon when Sonu visited his grandfather’s residence. Neighbors later informed the authorities that intense shouting and loud disagreements were heard coming from the property. In an attempt to distance himself from the argument, Darshan Singh walked out toward a livestock rearing area on the premises. Sonu then allegedly drew a weapon and opened fire, striking his grandfather before fleeing the area.
The sound of gunfire triggered widespread panic through the village, drawing residents to the scene where the victim was found. Forensic specialists and senior police officers subsequently examined the area to collect evidence and initiate the formal probe, later transferring the body for medical examination.
DSP Indri Satish Kumar Gautam affirmed that strict measures are underway to ensure a swift arrest in the matter.
“We have constituted multiple teams to nab the accused and are conducting raids at various locations. The accused will be arrested soon,” the DSP stated.
