CHANDIGARH, June 8 — A public address by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Dhuri encountered widespread public avoidance, proving the governing party has no political footing in Punjab, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated Sunday. The senior Aam Aadmi Party official noted that the low turnout serves as a direct mirror to national leaders attempting to gain traction within the state.
The administrative response followed reports of unutilized seating at the venue, which state officials interpret as a conscious boycott by local communities rather than simple scheduling conflicts.
“He returned after addressing those empty chairs, which clearly shows that there is no place left for the BJP in the hearts of the people of Punjab,” Cheema affirmed regarding the Haryana official’s brief visit across the state border.
The finance minister reordered the political arguments to focus primarily on water rights and federal overreach, stating that the central government frequently threatens local sovereignty. He stated that past economic maneuvers at the national level have harmed regional progress.
“It has repeatedly treated Punjab unfairly and has also damaged the country’s economy through its wrong policies,” Cheema asserted during his critique of the rally’s objectives.
The narrative also detailed the lasting resentment over the 2020-2021 agricultural blockades. Cheema noted that local families still mourn the massive human cost of the protests, making any political reconciliation under the current leadership impossible.
“The people of Punjab can never forget the sacrifice of those martyred farmer brothers, nor can they ever forgive the BJP for the atrocities committed against farmers,” Cheema maintained, citing the estimated 750 lives lost during the campaign to repeal the controversial legislative acts.
According to state leadership, the aware electorate will continue to reject campaigns built on division, ensuring the protection of agrarian livelihoods and cooperative federalism.
