ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING RAIDS HIT CIVIC CONTRACTOR PREMISES

Enforcement Directorate executes coordinated searches across Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi-NCR

JALANDHAR, June 9 — Financial investigators from the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday executed simultaneous searches across three states as part of an anti-money laundering investigation tied to Hampton Sky Realty Limited. The operations focused heavily on the properties of major government contractor Amit Bajaj, with teams simultaneously inspecting linked corporate infrastructure across Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bareilly, and the Delhi-Noida region.

The enforcement action began simultaneously at dawn across all six identified sites to secure financial logs, digital ledgers, and property records. Investigators stated that the deployment of central teams under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act follows specific financial intelligence regarding fund flows connected to the real estate entity.

The Bajaj brothers have historically managed extensive infrastructure and labor supply contracts for several urban civic bodies in Punjab, including Mohali and Ludhiana. Business records indicate that their firms also secured significant public works contracts outside the region, notably within Gujarat, alongside running prominent manpower outsourcing cooperatives.

Following the deployment of the central agencies at the local business premises, the Aam Aadmi Party leadership expressed strong opposition to the searches, assuring the local mercantile community of complete state administrative backing. Reassuring local business operators against the ongoing central inspections, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal said:

“The ED was once again targeting Hindu traders in Punjab through raids. The traders should not panic.”

Local political observers noted that the targeted business family has historically maintained communication channels with all major political groups in the region. Senior political figures from earlier regimes, including former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and various Congress functionaries, had regularly maintained contact with the contractors during their respective tenures prior to the current assembly term.
