Midnight Raid Disrupts TET

Racket exposed in Thane district as questions match actual exam papers

by TheReportingTimes

Mumbai, June 27: A criminal case has been registered against three individuals after a leakage of the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 question paper led to the indefinite postponement of the examination. The exam, originally slated for June 28, 2026, was called off after a Saturday morning raid exposed a network holding sensitive test data.

Bhiwandi police officials initiated the crackdown based on a tip-off regarding individuals carrying unauthorized exam information. Council experts summoned to the scene confirmed that the illicitly acquired questions were identical to the genuine test material.

MSCE Deputy Commissioner Priya Shinde declared that the state would absorb all financial burdens resulting from the rescheduling to protect the applicant pool.

“Candidates who had already registered for the examination will not have to register again. Since the candidates are not at fault, no re-registration fee will be charged,” Deputy Commissioner Shinde affirmed.

She also maintained that organizing a replacement test of this magnitude—covering 6 lakh aspirants across 37 locations—requires approximately a three-week logistical window.

The Maharashtra State Council of Examination issued an official statement assuring the public that the integrity of the educational system remains a top priority.

“The Maharashtra State Council of Examination remains firmly committed to conducting the examination with complete transparency,” the council release asserted.

The council stated that the postponement was vital to preserve fairness for all registered applicants while allowing investigators full freedom to dismantle the cheating network. Fresh examination schedules are expected to be uploaded to the official MSCE portal once the initial phases of the police probe conclude.
