Chandigarh/Amritsar, June 29: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday stated that Sikh ministers, MLAs, and the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker will head to the Akal Takht on Monday to clarify the legislative intent behind the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act. The decision comes after a strategic meeting with national and regional party leaders to address recent religious directives and foster clear communication with the community’s leadership.
The Chief Minister declared that the administration has consistently maintained a stance of deep respect toward the supreme temporal body. He observed, however, that traditional political factions have occasionally influenced religious structures to generate one-sided narratives rather than focusing on constructive administrative evaluations.
Reflecting on the digital misrepresentation used against him, the Chief Minister said, “I will submit a written explanation along with details of what I describe as a fake video in which a person impersonated me by wearing a mask. The people of Punjab are supreme and they stand firmly with the state government, which has taken path-breaking initiatives for their welfare.”
The state leadership also touched upon broader concerns regarding religious governance across state boundaries, urging outside administrations to refrain from interfering with historical management laws, which can inadvertently hurt the feelings of the community. The Chief Minister affirmed that the state remains focused on preserving both developmental momentum and communal harmony.
AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal also attended the regional briefings, offering perspectives on ongoing legal procedures elsewhere and noting that accountability mechanisms should consistently target the core orchestrators of disruptions rather than minor actors. The delegation affirmed its readiness to follow appropriate cultural and institutional traditions during the presentation.
