New Delhi, July 2: India and Japan have initiated a vital round of diplomatic talks aimed at reinforcing their Special Strategic and Global Partnership during the arrival of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally received his Japanese counterpart on Thursday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan forecourt, where the visiting dignitary was accorded a traditional ceremonial guard of honour. The visit is widely regarded as a significant milestone for the evolving geopolitical ties between the two nations, particularly amid shifting dynamics in the broader Indo-Pacific zone.
The two leaders are scheduled to hold extensive deliberations on Friday covering a broad spectrum of bilateral and regional concerns. Prime Minister Modi affirmed his enthusiasm for the meetings, indicating that the discussions would pave the way for a more robust collaborative framework.
“Through our joint efforts, we will continue to advance peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond,” the Indian Prime Minister declared. He also stated that New Delhi was delighted to host Prime Minister Takaichi on her inaugural visit to the country, anticipating a productive exchange of ideas.
Prior to the formal ceremonies on Thursday, the Japanese leadership expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality extended by the host nation. The Japanese Cabinet Public Relations Officer shared the optimism of the delegation in a public message.
“Our heartfelt thanks for your warm welcome. We are very much excited to be visiting India!” the official affirmed.
The groundwork for the three-day tour was laid on Wednesday night when Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh met Prime Minister Takaichi upon her arrival at the Palam Technical Airport. Minister Singh maintained that it was a privilege to welcome the Japanese Prime Minister on behalf of the government, confirming that her upcoming schedule is anchored by the highly anticipated 15th India-Japan Annual Summit.
